Welcome to our Improv Theatre Class,
We meet on Saturdays from 10am-1pm in the Parish Hall behind the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church on 9th Street at Hearst in Berkeley, CA.
Doors and kitchen open at 9:45am. Please consider stopping by early to help set up, enjoy a cup of tea and the company of your classmates.
Please contact Mike Dempsey with any questions or concerns.
Classes are offered on a dana (generosity) basis.
There’ll be a lot to get through. So please come on time. We’ll warm up right at 10am and then dive into scene work.
I will compile our 2019 calendar in the coming weeks. My aim is for us to meet once each month, with additional classes when possible. So stay tuned for another email.
Until Saturday, I leave you with the following:
“In the long history of humankind (and animal kind, too), those who learned to collaborate and improvise most effectively have prevailed.” — Charles Darwin
“Always carry the question, “How can I best serve this situation?” and then you have a better sense of when to run in and when to stay back, when to take focus and when to give it, how to best support your fellow performers and how to best support the scene. By focusing away from how you will look into serving the larger good, you have more creative impulses and resources available to you at any moment. And the choices you make are more in alignment with the higher levels of creative integration that form a coherent play.” — Michelle James
