Dear Friends,

I look forward to being with you this Thursday at the Monastery. This month marks the 100th Anniversary of the birth of Ajahn Chah, one of the most influential Theravadan masters of the 20th Century from the Thai Forest tradition.

Ajahn Chah was the primary teacher of Jack Kornfield, Ajahn Sumedho and Ajahn Amaro and Ajahn Passano. I had the good fortune of being with him in Thailand in the 70’s as well. Along with Mahasi Sayadaw of Burma, Ajahn Chah’s teaching is the main influence on the Dharma as presented at Spirit Rock, where his 100th birthday was just celebrated this past week.

I thought I’d share “The Teachings of Ajahn Chah” and his approach to practice this week–at once deep, wise, down to earth, humorous and fierce. Please join us.

Monthly Potluck at 6:00pm to 7:15pm
This being the first Thursday of the month we will have our sangha potluck from 6-7:15. This is a chance connect with others in our community before the sitting and talk. The Monastery and monks ask for you to refrain from bringing foods made with onions, garlic or meat.

I look forward to sharing the Dharma with you.

With metta,
James
