WHITE AWAKE: DEVELOPING RACIAL AWARENESS

Kimber Simpkins and Amanda Ream will be with us on August 3rd, 2017.

“As a white person, what can I do about racially motivated violence and injustice?”
The pain of the past year has put racist violence and prejudice to the forefront of the American national conversation. Yet, many white people are uncertain how to respond, or even how to talk about race. As white people, what can we do? How can we better a situation –and a system — of bias, hate, and ignorance? And how does our dharma practice inform this investigation and support our actions?
We can use our dharma practice to explore deepening personal awareness and understanding of race, and the role it plays in our lives and in society.

Exploring this terrain is also an expression of our commitment to the dharma of interdependence, compassion, and clear seeing.

Both Kimber and Amanda are graduates of the Dedicated Practicioners Program at Spirit Rock.

Hope to see you all there.
